MEXICO CITY (AP) There are nearly 1,000 confirmed cases of swine flu worldwide. The acting head of the CDC says the virus appears to be spreading as easily as regular winter flu. But Dr.
Richard Besser says it doesn't have some of the characteristics of more severe flus. Still he cautions that "doesn't mean we're out of the woods yet."
NEW YORK (AP) New York health officials are reporting two cases of raccoon roundworm. That's a disease so rare there are fewer than 30 cases reported in medical literature. A teen lost sight in one eye and a baby is brain-damaged from the disease. It's transmitted through contact with raccoon feces.
